If what you’re looking for is a large and powerful juice extractor that can handle entire fruits and veggies, the Hamilton Beach 67601A Big Mouth Juice Extractor is for you. Read on to find out what makes it the right choice.

It seems like today’s world asks more and more of us each day. We need to work, take care of home chores, cook, and more, all without overlooking our social lives or our friendships. All of those things are important, of course, and achieving balance over all of those aspects of our existence can help us lead more satisfying lives, but nobody said it was easy!

It’s so easy to simply stop taking care of oneself when focusing on everything that goes around us, but I’ve found that ignoring one’s body and well-being is a form of self-sabotage rarely talked about. How can one take care of others or do their best at their job when they’re not taking care of themselves?

I’ve found that the days I eat well are the days I do well and those days usually start with a green juice packed with vitamins and minerals that help me do my absolute best. I’ve gone through some juicers over the years, and while I’ve found some real winners, few match the power and simplicity found in Hamilton Beach’s Big Mouth Juice Extractor.

Yes, juicers tend to do the same, but how they do what they do makes all the difference, and the Big Mouth is a lot of action and not just talk. Here’s what makes it so amazing.

Who Should Use the Hamilton Beach 67601A?

The Big Mouth is directed towards fitness beginners looking to make healthier food choices, busy office workers looking for an efficient way to eating better, and parents struggling to find ways to give children their fruits and veggies. It’s also aimed at juice extracting enthusiasts, though the latter might find this machine a little wasteful.

The Hamilton Beach 67601A Review

The Big Mouth is the kind of machine that you can use almost straight out of the box. Give it a quick wash, and you’re good to go. The extractor is simple to use and can easily handle fruits and vegetables of almost any kind. Not only that, but its large feed chute size, hence the name Big Mouth minimizes prep time considerably.

Design

  • Type of Juicer. The Big Mouth juicer is designed with processing whole produce in mind that can easily handle entire apples, oranges, carrots, and more. Because this is a centrifugal juicer type, it does much better with hard produce than with leafy greens, though it can still juice the later without any problem.
  • Assembly. Assembly is straightforward and easy to achieve, even if you’re not good with machines. have pretty large hands and sometimes assembling kitchen appliances can be difficult. That’s not the case of the Big Mouth, which can be assembled in a matter of minutes by merely snapping things into place. No fiddling with small and delicate pieces necessary!
  • Dimensions. Standing at almost 8 inches wide and nearly 12 inches tall, the Big Mouth is rather compact as far as juicers go, making it an excellent choice for those of you with limited counter space. Despite its relatively small size, the Big Mouth is surprisingly spacious, and its large feeding chute can handle hard veggies and even whole vegetables just fine.
  • Feed Chute Size. Equipped with a 3″ feed shut that’s capable of the fitting whole produce, the Big Mouth certainly earned its name! This feed chute doesn’t only save time by allowing you to skip prepping, but it also saves you time by being super easy to clean!
  • Weight. The juicer is weighing almost 10 pounds. It’s light enough to be moved around the kitchen for storage without any hassles. Perfect for those of you with small kitchens or the handful who likes to take their juicer no matter where they go. Though its low weight makes it easy to move around, it doesn’t make for the most stable juicer out there which means you may have to put a hand on top of it while you juice just to make sure it doesn’t dance around the counter. That small detail was, by no means, a deal-breaker for me, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention it before you try it.
  • Base Color. Design-wise, the juicer has achieved a beautiful mix of functionality and aesthetics.

With two different models to choose from a practical black, and a more playful white and green one– and a straightforward yet eye-catching design, you can be sure that the Big Mouth Juice Extractor will look good on your kitchen counter while still commanding attention.

Performance

Simply put, you’ll struggle to find a juicer with better yield and performance for that price. The Big Mouth’s juice yield is one of the highest amongst entry-level juicers, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have room for improvement.

There’s a waste, plenty of it, most of it wet, which makes it abundantly clear that the machine could’ve extracted more juice, to begin with; However, this detail tends to be noticed only by juice extractor enthusiasts (like yours truly) and will be easy to overlook by just about everyone else.

Nonetheless, the excess waste does mean that very little pulp and grit will actually make it to your juice, resulting in smooth, rich juices that preserve their taste without being too thick to drink.

If you’re worried about the wasted pulp, don’t be. You can always put it back in the juicer to get a little extra juice from it, but by this point, there’s no guarantee that the juices will be as smooth as they would be otherwise.

What Fruits and Vegetables Hamilton Beach 67601A Can It Juice??

When it comes to fruit and vegetable juices, this juicer can do pretty much all you expect of it. Since it’s a centrifugal juicer as opposed to a masticating slow juicer, this machine prioritizes power, which means that harder produce tends to yield better results, while leafy greens may not work as well. Even then, I took the liberty of juicing different kinds of fruits and vegetables to see how the Big Mouth does.

  • Hard Produce. As mentioned, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth does its best when it comes to this category. Things like carrots, beets, and even sweet potatoes can be juiced easily and with very little strain. While the Big Mouth’s feed chute is large enough to fit entire produce, you might still have to do a little prep here and there if you’re juicing unusually large items. Rest assured, however, that any fruits and vegetables that can be shoved in there will be juiced.
  • Soft Produce. If the Big Mouth delivers excellent results and plenty of juice when it comes to hard produce, you can be guaranteed that it does even better when it comes to soft things. Apples, oranges, grapefruits, and cucumbers stand no chance against this juicer, and you’ll be enjoying delicious, healthy juices in no time at all.
  • Leafy Greens. Let’s be honest here. When it comes to leafy greens masticating juicers are just plain better than centrifugal machines. The Big Mouth can juice leafy greens in a matter of seconds, but the yield is sub-par when compared to the masticating machine.
  • Wheatgrass. Unfortunately, the Big Mouth can’t process wheatgrass, as that’s a task better suited for a masticating juicer. Don’t get me wrong, it will juice it, but it will yield too little to be worth the hassle.

Features

  • Motor Power. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer is powerful. It may not be the most potent juicer out there, but for the low price? You’d be hard-pressed to find anything better. This juicer boasts 800W in power, but that kind of potency does come with a price; The Big Mouth is pretty noisy, so you can wave discretion goodbye.
  • Max Speed. The Big Mouth knows one speed and one speed only: Fast. There aren’t any bells and whistles here. It juices things, and that’s it.
  • Capacity. Another area in which the Big Mouth shines, this machine is spacious, can juice whole produce and is easy to clean. What else could you ask for?
  • Noise. One of the most significant drawbacks of the Big Mouth, this machine is loud and will let you know when someone is using it.
  • Accessories. The Big Mouth comes with a small and sturdy brush to facilitate cleaning, but that’s the only accessory this juicer includes.
  • Ease of Use. By far, one of the best characteristics of this juicer, the Big Mouth is very easy to assemble and very easy to use. Even if this is your first juicer, you’ll be able to start creating delicious juices almost out of the box. There’s a learning curve involved when it comes to the waste box, but other than that? This juicer makes juicing so smooth you’d be wondering why you haven’t been using it since always!
  • Warranty. The manufacturer offers a three year extended warranty that covers factory issues. User-caused damage isn’t covered, but the machine is sturdy enough that that won’t be a likely issue.
  • Safety. Overall, this Hamilton Beach juicer machine is pretty safe to use, as it doesn’t have any small parts that can come loose. The extra-wide feeding chute is both a blessing and a course, though. It can fit a lot, but if you have small hands, you might want to be careful when sliding produce in.

Care & Cleaning

Big size means significant parts that translate to easy cleaning; Simply disassemble the juicer and wash each piece separately, either by using a sponge or the included brush. Most of the Big Mouth’s pieces are dishwasher safe, and those that aren’t can still be cleaned pretty quickly. Care-wise, the machine practically takes care of itself. The pieces are sturdy and well built, so as long as you don’t submerge or wet the motor housing parts of the juicer, you should have no problem using it for a long time.

What Others are Saying

Both newbies and experts agree: When it comes to entry-level juice extractors, it merely doesn’t get better than the Big Mouth. The comments are consistent over 2000+ reviews: The machine is easy to assemble, use, and clean, which everyone likes.

People also praise the high juice yield this machine is known for, though many have remarked that the machine tends to leave very moist pulp, which means it could be even better. Though many users have liked the juicer’s lightweight, many believe the machine doesn’t feel particularly stable on the counter.

On the noise side of things, everyone agrees the machine is loud, but some people find it more tolerable than others. It really does depend on your living situation. Finally, most users suggest using a small trash bag on the waste collector, as it minimizes clean up time and makes using the juicer even easier.

Alternatives to Hamilton Beach 67601A

While I consider the Big Mouth the best bang for your buck when it comes to juicers, I’ve taken the time to compare this juicer to other alternatives.

Hamilton Beach Pro Big Mouth Juicer Machine 67650A

This Hamilton Beach juicer alternative offers similar features to the Big Mouth, but its feeding chute is a bit smaller. Still worth considering if you’re shopping around.

Cuisinart Juice Extractor CJE-1000

More powerful (and more expensive) than the Big Mouth, this centrifugal juicer repeats much of the same beats, though the feeding chute is less spacious overall.

Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus

Another centrifugal juicer, this one is powerful enough to handle hard produce but doesn’t have good results when it comes to leafy greens; The Breville is smaller than the Big Mouth, which means less juice processing capacity overall.

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain

Another Breville model, this one is more affordable than the Big Mouth, but it’s also less robust overall. It is quieter, though, so there’s always that.

Conclusion: Is Hamilton Beach 67601A Juicer Worth It?

As I’ve mentioned repeatedly through the review, the Big Mouth Juice Extractor is an entry-level juicer and should be considered as such. This means this machine is an excellent option for those looking for a powerful juicer that doesn’t break the bank.

It has its limitations, as all entry-level juicers do, but I’ve found it to be a reliable, easy-to-use machine that can help set the foundations for a healthier lifestyle overall. If you’re looking for a straightforward juice extractor without bells and whistles, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth is definitely for you.
